Self Care is Never Selfish

Instead, self-care is considered an integral component of a healthy lifestyle with an action-oriented plan that will evolve based on your current health status and wellness needs. And the New Year is the perfect time to assess, modify, or revamp your self-care routine.

First start with a specific goal (e.g. exercise three days/week, get 7 to 8 hours of sleep/day, prepare healthy meals, practice stress management techniques, etc.). How much time do you have to devote to your new program? What resources do you need?

Next: List three obstacles that may thwart your progress and then determine strategies that will help you stay on track.

Then, set a target date and include at least three short-term goals along the way. These will act as stepping stones to guide you.

Finally, (my favorite) choose a healthy reward to serve as a “carrot” for all the hard work that you’ve put into your new wellness plan!
